Canvas Bar: Live Art Creation Comes to Milan
Canvas Bar, a project that invites artists to create works live in front of an audience, arrives in Milan on November 14 at Torneria Tortona, after stops in Berlin, Brussels, and Manchester. The initiative began in a disused metro station under Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, where photographer and filmmaker Rankin (founder of Hunger magazine and co-founder of Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack) opened the project. Participants in Berlin included Superblast, illustrator Olaf Hajek, Paul Schrader, flower stylist Mary Lennox, and Stefan Kunz. Rankin described the experience as a way to encourage creativity, with both established and emerging artists sharing white walls and empty rooms with spectators who were also invited to participate. The tour then moves to Paris on November 15 and 16 at Rue de Turenne.
