Cantieri Montelupo: artist residencies animate Tuscan town
The Cantieri Montelupo project in Montelupo Fiorentino, Tuscany, has fostered artist residencies that engage local craftspeople and community. Produced by Fondazione Museo Montelupo under Christian Caliandro's direction, the latest editions intensified relationships through workshops during residency openings. A diffused exhibition running until January 8, 2023, showcases works by Elena Bellantoni, Serena Fineschi, and Elisa Merra. Bellantoni created over forty clay slabs tracing the dry Pesa riverbed in a participatory performance. Fineschi produced three ceramic installations on impatience with ceramist Patrizio Bartoloni. Merra, winner of an under-30 call, focused on the washhouse well to explore ceramic form and substance. The exhibition spans the Fornace del Museo, Palazzo Podestarile, Museo della Ceramica, and the Pesa riverbank, with free entry except for the Museo della Ceramica.
