Cantiere Galli: New Design Hub Opens in Rome's Ostiense District

A new architecture and design space called Cantiere Galli has opened in Rome's Ostiense district, near the Gazometro. Founded by entrepreneur Eleonora Galli, the multifunctional center offers exhibition and sale of furniture and building materials, along with services for design professionals including a materials library, meeting rooms, a bookshop, and a kitchen. The cultural program, curated by Domitilla Dardi, features a rotating exhibition space named 'Una stanza tutta per sé' (A Room of One's Own), referencing Virginia Woolf's 1929 essay. The first exhibition, titled 'Beata solitudo,' presents a modular living unit by Giuseppe Arezzi, a young designer from Politecnico di Milano, designed as a portable shelter for contemporary hermits or digital nomads. The interior design of Cantiere Galli was executed by Studiopepe (Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Pinto), known for their minimalist and subtractive approach. The space aims to create a new design district in Rome, complementing the nearby Secondome gallery. Opening event: February 15, 2017, by invitation only.
