Canti Magnetici: An Italian Tape Label Exploring Sound, Nature, and the Spiritual

Founded in 2015 in Puglia, Italy, by electronic musicians Donato Epiro, Andrea Penso, and Gaspare Sammartano, Canti Magnetici is not a conventional record label but a project using sound to investigate natural, cultural, and spiritual phenomena. Each release is a concept album involving cross-disciplinary figures beyond pure music, such as Australian visual artist and writer Matthew P. Hopkins, whose work 'Fog study' explores 'inner' fog, and Barcelona-born filmmaker and sound artist Carlos Casas, who created tracks using field recordings and radio frequencies captured in the Vucca De Lu Puzzu cave in Capo di Leuca (Gagliano del Capo). The label is now transitioning to new formats, including the 'Invisibilia' series curated by Andrea Penso, which presents a previously unreleased composition by Michèle Bokanowski, originally created as a soundtrack for her husband Patrick Bokanowski's 1992 short film 'La Plage'. Recent releases include a CD of piano solos by Giovanni Di Domenico, a new tape by Joshua Bonnetta, and a vinyl work by Andrea Penso. The founders aim to continue experimenting with graphic design, web potential, and traditional print publications.
