Canon EOS R6 Mark III Review: A Serious Upgrade

other · 2026-05-28

Canon's EOS R6 Mark III, released late last year, upgrades the entry-level full-frame mirrorless lineup with pro-level features while maintaining an accessible price. The camera retains the Mark II's external design but introduces a 32.5 MP sensor (34% resolution increase) from the videocentric EOS C50, CFexpress Type B support for faster shooting and 7K 60p video, a full-sized HDMI Type A port, and improved autofocus with Register People Priority. The Mark III offers 12 fps mechanical and 40 fps electronic burst rates, pre-capture up to 20 RAW frames, and Dual Pixel AF II with subject detection down to -6.5EV. It lacks the Digic Accelerator and Action Priority AF found in higher-end models. The EVF and LCD remain unchanged, and there is no mode dial lock. Competitors include Sony A7 V, Nikon Z6 III, and Panasonic S1 II. The camera is positioned as a hybrid for stills and video, with the Mark II remaining a capable alternative.
