Cannes Film Festival 70th Edition Program Unveiled

The 70th Cannes Film Festival program was presented by President Pierre Lescure and General Delegate Thierry Frémaux. The lineup includes 29 films from 29 countries, reflecting a less pop, more selective, and globally diverse selection than previous years. Notable entries include Alejandro G. Iñárritu's 'Carne Y Arena' in a first-time appearance, and the new season of 'Twin Peaks' by David Lynch. Special screenings feature 'Demons In Paradise' by Jude Ratman and 'Sea Sorrow' by Vanessa Redgrave. Out of competition highlights include 'Blade Of The Immortal' by Miike Takashi, 'How to Talk to Girls at Parties' by John Cameron Mitchell, and 'Visage, Villages' by Agnès Varda & JR. The Official Competition for the Palme d'Or includes 'L'Amant Double' by François Ozon, 'The Killing Of A Sacred Deer' by Yorgos Lanthimos, 'Wonderstruck' by Todd Haynes, 'Happy End' by Michael Haneke, 'The Beguiled' by Sofia Coppola, 'In the Fade' by Fatih Akin, and 'The Meyerowitz Stories' by Noah Baumbach. Un Certain Regard features 'Fortunata' by Sergio Castellitto, 'Las Hijas De Abril' by Michel Franco, 'Before We Vanish' by Kurosawa Kiyoshi, 'Wind River' by Taylor Sheridan, and 'Après La Guerre' by Annarita Zambrano. Italy is notably absent from the competition, despite hopes for the Taviani brothers.
