Cannes 2022 Lineup Announced: Mario Martone, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, and Marco Bellocchio Among Italian Entries

The 75th Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to occur from May 17 to May 28, 2022, marking a return to its customary May timeframe following a previous cancellation. Thierry Frémaux emphasized that the festival will concentrate on current and future challenges. A symposium set for May 23 will delve into the themes of filmmaking and festivals. The festival will kick off with Z (Comme Z) directed by Michel Hazanavicius. Competing films include Nostalgia by Italy’s Mario Martone and Les Amandiers by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. Marco Bellocchio's Esterno Notte stars Fabrizio Gifuni as Aldo Moro. Highly anticipated titles are David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing, Top Gun: Maverick, and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic, showcasing diverse works from esteemed directors.
