artist · 2026-04-23

After a two-year pause due to Covid-19, Camila Sposati's initiative, Corpos de Phonosophia, successfully concluded its third residency in Belojardim, Pernambuco, Brazil. Curated by Cristiana Tejo and Kiki Mazzucchelli, the program engaged 14 local participants in exploring music, ceramics, and movement, influenced by Indigenous and African cultures. This residency originated from conversations between Tejo and Mariana Moura at Instituto Conceição Moura. Based in Vienna, Sposati tailored her research on wind instruments to fit the local environment, with assistance from co-curator David Biriguy. Inspired by Augusto Boal's Teatro Legislativo, participants produced 'political sound.' Choreographer Amália Lima facilitated body preparation sessions. Due to budget limitations, instruments were not fired but will be displayed in Belo Jardim, with the residency's continuation reliant on government support.
