CAMeC La Spezia presents three exhibitions exploring Ligurian art history and contemporary practice

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The CAMeC in La Spezia is hosting three concurrent exhibitions: 'Oversize', 'Allegoria dell'Esistenza', and 'La stanza delle Meraviglie'. 'Oversize' continues the rediscovery of the museum's permanent collection focused on the golden age of contemporary art in Liguria during the Premio del Golfo years (1949–1965), alongside works from the Cozzani and Battolini collections. It features Renato Guttuso's 'Ragazzi che cercano granchi', which won the Premio del Golfo seventy years ago, alongside works by Ettore Sottsass Jr., Bruno Pulga, Helmut Sturm, Raymond Hains, and Thomas Schütte. 'Allegoria dell'Esistenza' marks the tenth anniversary of the Factory collective, founded by Giuliano Tomaino, with a site-specific installation themed on the lightness of air and a carnival metaphor. Works include Francesco Ricci's 'Mama', Paolo Fiorellini's 'Corallo', and Tomaino's neon palindrome homage to Leonardo da Vinci. 'La stanza delle Meraviglie' recreates a 16th-century Wunderkammer, juxtaposing exotic animals from the Museo Etnografico, ancient Roman stone fragments, wax objects by Anna Nancy Rozzi, and works from the CAMeC collection by Enzo Faraoni and François Morellet, with an educational focus for primary schools.
