CAMeC La Spezia Opens New Era Under Grulli with Major Photo Show

The CAMeC – Centro d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in La Spezia inaugurated a new chapter under director Antonio Grulli with the exhibition 'Fotosintesi. Fotografie dalla collezione Carla Sozzani', running until March 22, 2026. The show features 150 works by 73 photographers, curated by Maddalena Scarzella, drawn from the collection of the Fondazione Carla Sozzani. Artists include László Moholy-Nagy, David LaChapelle, Karl Blossfeldt, Alfred Stieglitz, Helmut Newton, Sarah Moon, Paolo Roversi, and Man Ray. The exhibition marks the museum's reopening after years of closure, with renovated spaces and a renewed scientific program. Grulli was appointed director in July 2025. The display dialogues with CAMeC's permanent collection, which includes 20th-century photography from the Premio del Golfo and donations Cozzani and Battolini, recently re-installed by Gerhard Wolf with over 200 works organized by themes such as body and performance, architecture, ecology, Pop Art, and the 1980s.
