Camden Art Centre Reopens with The Botanical Mind Exhibition

Camden Art Centre in London has reopened after lockdown with the exhibition "The Botanical Mind: Art, Mysticism and The Cosmic Tree," running until December 23, 2020. The show features over fifty artists, indigenous artisans, and outsiders spanning five centuries, exploring the intersection of spirituality and contemporary art. It opens with Carl Gustav Jung's "Liber Novus" (The Red Book), displaying his symbolic images like the Axis Mundi and Mandala. The exhibition is divided into chapters, including works by Scottie Wilson, Adolf Wölfli, Fred Tomaselli, Tamara Henderson, Philip Taaffe, Giorgio Griffa, Cerith Wyn Evans, and Andrea Büttner. A group of Yawanawá artists from the Amazon could not install their work due to pandemic isolation. Concurrently, Hayward Gallery presents "Among the Trees," featuring artists like Jimmie Durham, Rodney Graham, Ugo Rondinone, Giuseppe Penone, Thomas Struth, and Pascale Marthine Tayou. David Attenborough's documentary "A Life on Our Planet" is also screening in UK cinemas.
