Cambridge Professor Jason Arday Resigns Amid Plagiarism Probe

Jason Arday, who made history as the youngest Black professor appointed at the University of Cambridge, has stepped down following an inquiry into 'new information' regarding his academic credentials. At 37, Arday became a professor in 2023. He announced his resignation late Wednesday after enduring weeks of accusations related to plagiarism and doubts about his claims of completing 30 marathons in 35 days. In a statement shared by the Good Law Project, which has supported him, Arday expressed that the 'relentless accusations, speculation and public commentary' have profoundly affected him and his family. A previous letter from the group, endorsed by over two dozen academics and politicians, labeled the allegations a 'smear campaign' aimed at discrediting Arday and other influential Black individuals.
