Cambi Casa d’Aste’s Fine Art Selection Returns with 130 Lots of Old Masters

On May 20 in Milan, Cambi Casa d’Aste will hold the second edition of Fine Art Selection, an auction dedicated to Old Master works spanning the Middle Ages to Neoclassicism. The 130-lot catalogue includes illuminated manuscripts, sculptures, paintings, furniture, and decorative arts. A 15th-century Book of Hours from Rouen (lot 4, est. €25,000–30,000) is a highlight of medieval and Renaissance art. A marble bust of Costanza Piccolomini Bonarelli (lot 11, est. €30,000–50,000), attributed to Matteo Bonarelli and linked to Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s circle, recalls Bernini’s famous bust at the Museo del Bargello, currently on view at Palazzo Barberini in the exhibition “Bernini e i Barberini.” Paintings include Giovanni Paolo Panini’s “Achille strappato dalla reggia di Licomede” (lot 15, est. €30,000–40,000) and Rosalba Carriera’s pastel “Ritratto di dama con fiori” (lot 34, est. €25,000–35,000). Works on paper feature four drawings of greyhounds by Giandomenico Tiepolo (lots 38–39, est. €10,000–15,000) and “La visione di San Girolamo” by Guercino (lot 9, est. €5,000–6,000). A section on Sicilian vedutismo includes five lots by Francesco Zerilli (lots 81–85, est. €8,000–12,000), plus works by Federico Andreotti (lot 124, est. €10,000–12,000) and Eugenio Zampighi (lot 125, est. €10,000–15,000).
