Cambi Casa d’Aste Reports €20.1M in First Half of 2023

Cambi Casa d’Aste held 55 auctions in the first half of 2023, 30 of which were online, generating a total turnover of €20,117,728. The auction house saw strong performance across multiple departments, with Design leading at €3.6 million (17.9% of total), followed by Modern and Contemporary Art at €2.5 million (12.7%), and Old Master Paintings and Drawings at around €2.3 million. Ten sales exceeded €100,000. The top lot was Sergio Lombardo's 'John Fitzgerald Kennedy (1961-1963)', which sold for €162,000 on July 5. Other notable sales include Fortunato Depero's 'Pagliaccetti' (1918) at €100,100, Medardo Rosso's 'Testa di bimbo' (1887-1889) at €120,100, and a record for Francesco Vezzoli with 'Cassandra Crying' at €87,600. In the Luxury segment, a Daniel Roth Chrono monopulsante in platinum fetched €137,600, an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak reached €112,600, and a Marilyn diamond necklace sold for €112,600, while a 13.39-carat brilliant-cut diamond went for €106,350. President Matteo Cambi noted growth in the Luxury sector and an increase in international buyers, particularly from the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and China, with foreign sales accounting for 41% of total value. For the second semester, Cambi plans new catalogues for 'Dimore Italiane', Design 200, Fine Design, as well as autumn auctions for Modern and Contemporary Art, Numismatics, and 20th Century Decorative Arts.
