Call for Art Writers: Southeast Asian Workshops on Publishing and Precarity

publication · 2026-04-22

Afterall and Southeast of Now are inviting participants from Southeast Asia to join a series of workshops called 'Terms and Conditions of Art Writing and Publishing in Southeast Asia.' This program aims to foster collaborative learning and explore different formats for art writing, like criticism, history, memes, zines, podcasts, and video essays. The workshops will be tailored to fit what participants want, featuring guest speakers as well. Organizers plan to address systemic issues, including access and censorship. To apply, candidates need to provide answers to three questions, a CV, and a writing sample in one of several languages. The program is free, with notable figures such as Adeena Mey and Simon Soon involved. Applications are due by 12 August 2021 at 00:00 GMT+7.
