Calibrite Display Plus HL First to Hardware Calibrate Apple Displays

other · 2026-05-26

The Calibrite Display Plus HL is the first colorimeter approved for hardware-level calibration of Apple displays, working with Apple's own calibration workflow. Previously, such precision required industrial spectroradiometers costing thousands of dollars. The device, priced at $339 (on sale for $259 until end of June), allows users to write display adjustments—including white point, luminance, and color accuracy—directly to Apple displays at a hardware level. It supports up to 2,000 nits peak brightness on the newest Apple Studio Display XDR. Compatible models include the Apple Studio Display (2022 and 2026), Pro Display XDR, and MacBook Pro (M1 Pro/Max and newer). It also works with Apple's newest color technology, Apple CMF 2026. Hardware calibration requires macOS Tahoe 26.4 and newer. Calibrite notes that while Apple displays are accurate out of the box, they drift over time, making calibration essential for color-critical workflows.
