Cahiers d'Art centenary celebrated at Peggy Guggenheim Collection Venice

exhibition · 2026-04-26

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French art magazine Cahiers d'Art, established in 1926 by Christian Zervos, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice has unveiled a special installation. Running until autumn 2026, the exhibit will feature ten significant issues that highlight the magazine's impact on modernist visual culture. Included are reproductions of artworks owned by Peggy Guggenheim from the 1920s to the 1950s. This installation is part of a worldwide exhibition series set for 2026, which will also involve institutions such as MDAM in Vézelay, LUMA in Arles, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Cahiers d'Art, which published 97 issues, was revived in 2012 by Staffan Ahrenberg. Director Karole P. B. Vail emphasized its importance in showcasing the avant-garde.
