Cadorin dynasty exhibition at Palazzo Fortuny in Venice

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Palazzo Fortuny in Venice hosts 'La bottega Cadorin. Una dinastia di artisti veneziani', an exhibition curated by Jean Clair and conceived by Daniela Ferretti. Over 200 works from the Cadorin family collection, preserved by Ida Barbarigo in Palazzo Balbi Valier, are on display. The Cadorin family, originally from Pieve di Cadore, arrived in Venice in the 16th century and established a creative workshop spanning sculpture, painting, photography, and more. The exhibition includes works by Guido Cadorin (paintings and drawings), Vincenzo Cadorin (wood sculptures, plasters, terracottas), Ettore Cadorin (ivories), and Augusto Tivoli (photographs, including documentation of the Campanile di San Marco reconstruction). Ida Barbarigo, daughter of Guido Cadorin and Livia Tivoli, and wife of Zoran Music, is also present with her muscular, linear paintings. The show highlights the friendship between Mariano Fortuny and the Cadorins, adding depth to the family saga. The exhibition runs until March 27, 2017.
