Cabin Devín: A 20 m² Off-Grid Weekend Retreat in Slovakia
Cabin Devín, a weekend retreat spanning 20 square meters, has been finalized by architecture firms ARCHEKTA and Ark-Shelter, located near Devín Castle in Slovakia. This energy-independent structure is perched on the Zlatý Roh vineyards, roughly 3 km above the ECK restaurant, offering scenic views of the Austrian Alps. Hadir Al Koshta oversaw the project, while structural engineering was provided by Radovan Hnidka. The creative team featured Martin and Viktor Mikovčák as authors, alongside co-authors Barbora Šimášková, Ondrej Vavro, and Radovan Hnidka, carpenter Mário Cyprich, and artist Stanislav Mikovčák, who contributed artworks. Ark-Shelter executed the module and built-in furnishings, with PV SERVICE PLUS managing the Loxone system and solar panels. Completed in 2024, the cabin emphasizes comfort and a deep connection to its surroundings, serving as a year-round refuge.
