Ca' Foscari University Venice Celebrates 10 Years of Exhibition Space with Gely Korzhev Retrospective

Ca' Foscari University of Venice marks a decade of its exhibition space, Ca' Foscari Esposizioni, with a major retrospective of Russian painter Gely Korzhev (1925–2012), seven years after his death and 57 years after his participation in the Venice Biennale. The show, curated by Faina Balachovskaja, Giuseppe Barbieri, Silvia Burini, and Nadezhda Stepanova, features 50 paintings alongside documents, photos, and films. It results from a collaboration between the Tretyakov Gallery, the Institute of Russian Realist Art, and Ca' Foscari's Centro Studi sulle Arti della Russia (CSAR). The exhibition highlights Korzhev's nudes, still lifes, portraits, and works referencing socialist realism, while also showcasing the university's own high-quality exhibition spaces—a model for other institutions.
