C-Gallery Opens in Milan Focusing on African Contemporary Art

exhibition · 2026-05-05

C-Gallery, a new art gallery co-founded by Christoph Jenny and Adama Sanneh, opened on May 7, 2017, at Via Ventura 6 in Milan. The inaugural exhibition, Selling the Shadow, was curated by artists Ayana V. Jackson and Ingrid LaFleur. The gallery occupies the same loft that previously housed Ebano Gallery, shifting from a multidisciplinary approach to a more research-oriented focus on contemporary African art and emerging markets. Raffaella Carillo, the gallery manager, stated that C-Gallery selects and promotes internationally renowned artists who generate new visual codes and expand market boundaries beyond local trends. The gallery also plans to offer services for young collectors and alternative business models. The current exhibition features Malala Andrialavidrazana, a Madagascar-born artist based in Paris, running until November 25. Adama Sanneh, a strategic consultant for organizations including the United Nations and the Global Shapers Milan, and a member of the advisory committee for the recent exhibition Il Cacciatore Bianco, serves as Program Director at lettera27, a non-profit foundation in Milan focused on rebranding Africa through art and culture. Sanneh emphasized that visitors should be surprised by the uniqueness of the works at C-Gallery.
