C& Critical Writing Workshop in Santo Domingo Accepting Applications

Contemporary And (C&), Centro Cultural BanReservas, and Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) invite emerging art writers residing in the Dominican Republic to apply for a three-day Critical Writing Workshop. The workshop will take place from September 19 to 21, 2024, at the Sala de Posgrado of the Facultad de Artes de la UASD in Santo Domingo. It is directed by Diego del Valle Ríos and Luis Graham Castillo, with Yina Jiménez Suriel as part of the C& editorial team. The workshop aims to foster inclusive art narratives, provide tools for writing reviews and essays, and connect local and global writers through mentorship. Up to 15 participants will be selected. The deadline for applications is August 31, 2024. Applicants must submit a one-page motivation letter and a text of up to 1000 words to info@contemporaryand.com. The workshop provides accommodation and meals for participants from outside Santo Domingo and a transport stipend for those within the province. Diego del Valle Ríos is editor-in-chief of Arteinformado (launching fall 2024) and former editor-in-chief of Terremoto magazine. Luis Graham Castillo is a communicator, cultural manager, and curator based in Santo Domingo. Yina Jiménez Suriel is associate editor of C& for Latin America and the Caribbean and adjunct curator of the 14th Bienal do Mercosul (2025).
