C& and Newcomb Art Museum Host Critical Writing Workshop in New Orleans
Contemporary And (C&) and the Newcomb Art Museum (NAM) at Tulane University invite Black writers residing in New Orleans to a three-day Critical Writing Workshop from March 27 to 29, 2025. Tutors Nohora Arrieta Fernández and Sherae Rimpsey will lead the workshop, with a guest tutor to be confirmed. The workshop aims to broaden narratives in contemporary art criticism, provide mentorship, and connect local and global writers. Participants will gain practical tools for writing reviews, essays, and project proposals. Arrieta Fernández is a writer and assistant professor of Afro-Latin American studies at UCLA; Rimpsey is an artist and writer serving as NAM's Art Writer and Editor. Applications require a CV, one-page motivation letter, and a writing sample (max 1000 words) in English, Portuguese, or Spanish, submitted as a single PDF to info@contemporaryand.com by March 13, 2025. Up to 12 participants will be selected. The workshop is funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art.
