BYD and Chopard Custom EV Fetches $815,000 at AMFAR Gala Auction
A one-off Denza Z9GT, a luxury electric vehicle from BYD's sub-brand Denza, was customized in collaboration with Chopard and sold for $815,000 at the 32nd annual AMFAR Gala Cannes. The car features gold accents, amethyst stones on interior trims, a custom Chopard theme on the 17.3-inch infotainment screen, and the maison's 'C' logo on headrests, carpets, and wireless charging pad. Chopard's artistic director Caroline Scheufele described it as 'a moving piece of jewelry.' Underneath, the Z9GT uses BYD's e3 platform and second-gen Blade Battery system, with three motors producing over 1,150 hp, 0-62 mph in under three seconds, and ultra-fast charging (1,500 kW) that can recharge in nine minutes. It also features a 20-speaker Devialet audio system. All proceeds from the auction went to AIDS research. BYD plans to bring the EV to the European market in 2026.
