BVH Architecture expands Karen Kunc's Constellation Studios in Lincoln, Nebraska

architecture-design · 2026-08-17

In Lincoln, Nebraska, BVH Architecture has unveiled plans for a 3,400-square-foot expansion of Constellation Studios, established by artist Karen Kunc. This new addition will feature four studio areas, classrooms, a retail gallery, and a courtyard, enhancing the original campus that was completed in 2014. The Lincoln City Council is financing the project through tax-increment financing, aiming to boost revitalization along North 48th Street. The design incorporates a saw-tooth roof to maximize natural light and a perforated metal screen facing O Street. Visitors will enter through a courtyard designed for workshops and gatherings. Kunc’s initial studios were also developed with BVH, which has offices in Lincoln, Omaha, and Denver, and this expansion will accommodate new printmakers and teaching artists.
