Burnaway Launches Open Book, a Hybrid Book Club Across the South and Caribbean
Burnaway, an arts publication located in Atlanta, has introduced Open Book, its inaugural editorial book club that will host both in-person and virtual events. Each season, the editorial team will choose a book from a variety of genres that connect with art and the local area. Events will take place in Atlanta, the Caribbean, the Carolinas, and New Orleans, alongside virtual gatherings during the same week. The first book selected is Hothouse Bloom by Austyn Wohlers, picked by editor Courtney McClellan. A virtual meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, from 7 to 8 PM EST, while an in-person gathering will occur at Larakin on Wednesday, September 23, from 6 to 8 PM EST. The hardback edition, published by Hub City Press in 2024, delves into a woman's fixation on her grandfather's apple orchard.
