Burgess Architects' Feltham Green Cabin Opens in South London

Burgess Architects has finalized the Feltham Green Cabin, a new community hub located on High Street in Feltham, London. This initiative, commissioned by the London Borough of Hounslow for the Friends of Feltham Green, represents the conclusion of a five-year grassroots campaign aimed at enhancing the neglected area. The 21 sqm building showcases three conical timber roofs of different heights, creating a notable civic appearance. The tallest cone houses a bright, vaulted community area. Gabion walls, partially filled with reclaimed materials from local residents and designed with artists Susie John and Bill Fuller, also function as a bug hotel. The structure operates at net zero, utilizing compacted rubble foundations, an all-timber superstructure, FSC-certified poplar plywood cladding, and features like solar panels and rainwater harvesting. The adaptable interior accommodates gardening workshops, art classes, and public meetings. The cabin is now available for community activities.
