Buon Vento: Virtual Museum Launches for Ancona Port

digital · 2026-04-27

The port of Ancona has launched Buon Vento, a virtual museum and cultural platform that presents the life and transformation of the harbor through videos, podcasts, social media, interviews, and in-depth texts. The initiative is promoted by the Autorità di sistema portuale del mare Adriatico centrale, led by president Rodolfo Giampieri, who describes it as a way to showcase the port's diverse souls working together for future economic and social development. Buon Vento is a precursor to a larger virtual museum network under the European project Remember, funded by the Italy-Croatia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme, which aims to unite eight Adriatic ports: Ancona, Ravenna, Venice, Trieste, Rijeka, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik. The project is coordinated by journalist and curator Cristiana Colli, known for her work with Demanio Marittimo KM-278 and Artribune. Colli emphasizes that the port is an ecosystem of value and values, blending historical-artistic and archaeological heritage with contemporary art, architecture, business, and labor. The platform also documents painful moments of transformation, such as the demolition of silos painted by street artists Blu and Ericailcane in 2008 during the POP UP! festival.
