Bunker Galleria's 'Scatola Bianca' Challenges the White Cube in Florence

'Scatola Bianca,' curated by Cosimo Bonciani and Niccolò Antonielli, is currently on display at Bunker Galleria in Florence (Via San Gallo 108r) until November 2025. This exhibition critically examines the dynamics between art and the exhibition environment, particularly questioning the supposed neutrality of the white cube. It consists of two distinct rooms: one dark and immersive featuring subdued artworks, and another bright and warm showcasing vibrant, intense pieces by the same artists. This interplay of light and substance seeks to position the space as an active entity rather than merely a passive backdrop. Featured artists include painters Andrea Barzaghi, Cosimo Casoni, and others, as well as sculptors Alice Ronchi, Cleo Fariselli, and Lea Mugnaini, addressing how space shapes perception and challenges established gender norms in art.
