Bud Spencer becomes a comic book character in new graphic novel
A new graphic novel titled "Bud Spencer" chronicles the life of Carlo Pedersoli, the Italian actor known as Bud Spencer. Published by ReNoir Comics in Milan in 2021, the black-and-white book marks the fifth anniversary of his death on June 27, 2016. The story is framed by a chance encounter at an airport where Spencer recounts his past to a young boy named Luca. Writer Marco Sonseri, who previously penned biographies for ReNoir on Giorgio Perlasca, Paolo Borsellino, and Don Puglisi, describes Spencer as a reassuring figure evoking childhood. Illustrator Roberto Lauciello, who also created a graphic novel about cyclist Luigi Malabrocca, aimed to capture the actor's gentleness. The 112-page volume, priced at €19.90, is the first graphic novel about Spencer authorized by the Pedersoli family.
