Bruxelles and Amsterdam Launch Art Weeks with Collective Openings

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

Brussels and Amsterdam are launching art weeks this autumn, featuring collective openings and special projects. In Brussels, from September 8 to 11, 18 artist-run spaces, nonprofits, and public-private institutions join 30 promoting galleries. A shuttle service connects venues, and a talks program curated by Matteo Lucchetti accompanies exhibitions by Paul McCarthy, Frank Stella, Marcel Broodthaers, and emerging locals Pieterjan Ginckels, Fabrice Samyn, and Haseeb Ahmed. Italian artists are also present: Giuseppe Stampone has a solo show at Galerie Marie-Laure Fleisch, Marisa Merz appears in a group show at Gladstone Gallery, and Francesco Clemente has a solo at Jablonka Maruani Mercier. In Amsterdam, the Art Week End runs November 24 to 27, featuring over 100 exhibitions, performances, screenings, and talks across nearly 50 venues. Artists include Wu Tsang & Fred Moten and Béatrice Balcou. Major museums like the Stedelijk and the Manifesta Foundation support the event. The RijksakademieOPEN 2016 presents results from the residency program with open studios of 45 artists. The art week format is increasingly comparable to international art fair weeks and biennial side programs in quality and visitor numbers.
