Brussels hosts three exhibitions for Surrealism's centenary
Brussels is marking the centenary of the Surrealist Manifesto with a trio of exhibitions. The Belgian Surrealist collective, spearheaded by Paul Nougé, Marcel Lecomte, and Camille Goemans, distinguished itself from its Parisian counterparts through its emphasis on anonymity, humor, and political activism. 'Histoire de ne pas rire. Surrealism in Belgium' is on display at Bozar until June 16, 2024, featuring 260 artworks and over 100 documents, including contributions from Jane Graverol and René Magritte. Meanwhile, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts present 'IMAGINE! 100 Years of International Surrealism' until July 21, 2024, with 140 pieces, such as Dalí's 'Soft Construction with Boiled Beans' (1936). The Magritte Museum showcases 'Magritte-Folon. The Dream Factory' until July 21, 2024.
