BRUSK Opens in Bruges: A Hybrid Museum Bridging Ancient Art and AI

exhibition · 2026-04-26

In Bruges, Belgium, a new cultural hub named BRUSK has been inaugurated by Robbrecht en Daem and Olivier Salens, forming part of Musea Brugge. Situated in the UNESCO-listed city center, it serves as a bridge between historical and modern art, collective memory, and new technologies. The facility boasts ground-floor areas that are easily accessible, a sheltered urban square, and features such as Laure Prouvost's fresco "The Whispering Walls Rêve." Director Kristl Strubbe emphasizes the importance of adaptable spaces. The opening showcases two exhibitions: "Bigger Picture. Connected Worlds of Bruges 900–1550," displaying over 250 pieces, and "Latent City," which includes an immersive work by digital artist Refik Anadol. BRUSK marks the initial phase of a cultural masterplan extending through 2031.
