Bruno Munari retrospective at Fondazione Magnani-Rocca near Parma

The Fondazione Magnani-Rocca in Mamiano di Traversetolo, near Parma, hosts the largest exhibition ever dedicated to Bruno Munari in Italy, titled "Bruno Munari tutto." The show explores Munari's multidisciplinary practice spanning design, art, graphics, and children's books, including his collaborations with Gianni Rodari. Works on view range from his "useless machines" and "negative-positive" paintings to travel sculptures, lamps, the "slippery chair for very short visits," and the "Abitacolo" bed/storage structure. The exhibition also features numerous publications, sketches, and playful objects. The catalog, with a cover by Munari for Rodari, includes contributions from Munari's grandchildren and curator Marco Meneguzzo, who traces Munari's career from his birth in Milan in 1907 through his many awards, including multiple Compasso d'Oro prizes, an honorary mention from the New York Academy of Sciences, the Andersen Prize, the Japan Design Foundation Award, the Lego Prize, and membership in the Accademia dei Lincei and honorary membership at Harvard University. The exhibition emphasizes Munari's playful, inventive spirit and his belief in creativity for both children and adults.
