Bruno & Michèle: Concrete and Wood Residence on Quebec Slope

Atelier 11 17 has completed Bruno & Michèle, a 232 m² residence in Bolton-Ouest, Quebec, that adapts to the steep slope of Mont Foster using concrete, wood, and steel. The project began in 2021 when the owners selected a site with views of the Sutton Mountains. The design comprises two distinct volumes: a concrete base that anchors into the terrain, preserving board-form textures that echo the rocky outcrops, and an upper wooden volume that projects toward the forest canopy. A vertical circulation core connects the levels, with the lower floor housing a bicycle workshop and parking, while the upper level contains living areas oriented toward the mountains through a large glazed frame. Integrated furniture and a wood-slat ceiling reinforce continuity. The residence was completed in 2025.
