Bruno Bozzetto Receives David Speciale at 2026 David di Donatello Awards

At the 2026 David di Donatello ceremony, animator Bruno Bozzetto, born in Milan in 1938, was honored with the David Speciale lifetime achievement award, celebrating his remarkable six-decade journey in commercials, short films, feature films, and television series. Currently based in Bergamo, he is still active in animation, having recently created the Beelen and Doggy vignettes. His debut work, Tapum!, was showcased at Cannes in 1958. In 1960, he established Bruno Bozzetto Film, known for Mr. Rossi shorts and Caroselli advertisements. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his feature film Allegro non troppo (1975). Bozzetto has received over 150 international accolades, including the Golden Bear in 1990 for Mistertao and an Oscar nomination in 1991 for Cavallette, dedicating the David award to his father Umberto and his collaborators.
