Bruno Barsanti Named Director of Fondazione Elpis, New Milan Space Opening Fall 2022

Bruno Barsanti, previously curator for Una Boccata d'Arte, has been appointed director of Fondazione Elpis, the Milan-based foundation created by collector and entrepreneur Marina Nissim in 2020. The foundation supports emerging artists from diverse backgrounds through residencies, exhibitions, and educational initiatives. Its flagship project, Una Boccata d'Arte, returns for a third edition from June 25 to September 18, 2022, featuring 20 international artists in 20 Italian villages (one per region) plus a special 21st artist connecting all sites. The project is organized in collaboration with Galleria Continua and Threes Productions. Barsanti's role expands from project coordination to strategic oversight of all foundation activities, including the upcoming opening of a physical headquarters in Milan's Porta Romana district. The new space, a restored late-19th-century industrial laundry within the Orti-Lamarmora complex, was renovated by architect Giovanna Latis and will open after summer 2022. It will host public exhibitions, workshops, performances, and talks, prioritizing quality and cross-disciplinary connections over quantity. Barsanti emphasizes that supporting young artists requires active listening, studio visits, and creating opportunities beyond financial aid.
