Bruno Barbey's Mediterranean Palette at La Chapelle
La Chapelle, a contemporary art center in Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines acquired by Marion and Baudoin Lebon in 2016, is exhibiting the late Magnum photographer Bruno Barbey (1941-2020). The show, titled "Palette méditerranéenne du Portugal au Maroc," runs until February 25, 2024. Barbey, a Franco-Swiss photographer born in Morocco, is best known for his series "Les Italiens" (1961-64). This exhibition broadens his Mediterranean focus, featuring photographs taken in Portugal, Spain, and Morocco. Works on view include "Maroc, Fès, Moulay Idriss, 1993" (Ciba-print, 120 x 180 cm), "Portugal, Obidos, 1993" (Fine Art baryta print, 50 x 60 cm), and "Espagne, Seville, Feria, 1986" (Fine Art baryta print, 40 x 60 cm).
