Bruce Gilden's Radical Face Photography Takes Over Brescia

The Museo di Santa Giulia in Brescia hosts 'A Closer Look', a major retrospective of Bruce Gilden (New York, 1946) until August 23, 2026. Curated by Denis Curti and produced with Magnum Photos, the exhibition features around 80 works spanning over fifty years, from black-and-white street photography in 1970s-80s New York to recent color portraits. The show includes reportage from Haiti (1985-1995), Japan's Yakuza (1996-1999), France (1994-2015), England (2000-2012), and the series 'Faces' (2013-2024). A parallel project, 'Grazia', runs until July 12 at the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo, commissioned by Fondazione Brescia Musei in dialogue with Raphael's paintings loaned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibition is part of the Brescia Photo Festival 2026 and includes audiovisual contributions by Martin Parr and Magnum Photos.
