Brooklyn Creative Reuse Opens Physical Store in Industry City
Brooklyn Creative Reuse (BCR), founded by jeweler Stephanie O'Brien, has opened a brick-and-mortar location in Industry City, Building 2, replacing the recently closed Artist and Craftsman. The nonprofit, which began as a pop-up in February 2025, diverts used art supplies from landfills by selling them at a price-per-pound rate. A launch party on April 18 drew crowds who donated and purchased items like Yupo paper, Sennelier oil sticks, and a sewing machine. BCR receives up to 300 pounds of material monthly and has diverted over 1,000 pounds in its first year. Volunteers sort donations and receive free supplies. The organization plans workshops with teaching artists, emphasizing fair wages and sliding-scale pricing.
