Bronx Museum of Arts to Open New Manhattan Space in Tribeca

institutional · 2026-05-04

The Bronx Museum of Arts will open a new satellite space in Manhattan at 80 White Street, Tribeca, on October 25, 2018. The 4,300-square-foot facility will support the museum's AIM (Artist in the Marketplace) program, which nurtures emerging New York artists. The space includes private work areas, meeting rooms, exhibition galleries, and a conference room, providing professional development resources such as exhibition design, arts management, art law, entrepreneurship, and writing workshops. With this expansion, the museum will annually host 46 AIM artists across both its Bronx and Manhattan locations. The 80 White Street space is a donation from longtime supporters Martin Weinstein, Teresa Liszka, and Gerald Weinstein. Joseph Mizzi, board chair of the Bronx Museum, expressed gratitude for their generosity. For the October 25 preview, AIM artist Grimanesa Amorós will present ARGENTUM, a site-specific light sculpture commissioned by Weinstein and Liszka. The work consists of two sections connecting the Bronx Museum to its new incubator: the left side represents Manhattan, the right side the Bronx. Amorós explained that the steel foundations of 80 White Street and AIM's second home in Lower Manhattan inspired her to unite the building's foundation and inhabitants. The sculpture occupies most of the entrance, ensuring constant viewer interaction.
