Bronx Museum Names Shamim M. Momin Director; Kimsooja Honored by France; Frieze Award to Sophia Al-Maria

Starting this September, Shamim M. Momin will step in as the director and chief curator of the Bronx Museum of the Arts in New York, taking over from Klaudio Rodriguez. Her joining comes at a time when the museum’s South Wing is undergoing a major renovation, backed by a $42.9 million budget, slated for completion next year. Momin previously worked at Seattle's Henry Art Gallery and the Whitney Museum of American Art. On July 9, Kimsooja, a South Korean artist, was recognized as an Officer in the French Order of Arts and Letters in Seoul. Rattanamol Singh Johal will lead the 14th Experimenter Curators' Hub in Kolkata on July 18–19. Sophia Al-Maria will perform at Regent's Park from October 15–19, and the 18th Istanbul Biennial is set for September 20 to November 23. The 2025 Milestone Grant will be given to Tuan Andrew Nguyen, Walid Raad, and Amanda Ross-Ho. Additionally, Japanese sound artist evala won the Isao Tomita Special Prize and will present his work at the Ars Electronica Festival from September 3–7.
