Broken Nature Exhibition Opens at MoMA New York

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Museum of Modern Art in New York has kicked off Broken Nature, which serves as the main exhibit for the 2019 XXII Triennale di Milano. Curated by Paola Antonelli, who holds the titles of Senior Curator of Architecture and Design and Director of Research and Development at MoMA, this American version features 45 selected works from an initial 100 showcased at the Triennale. The exhibition explores the relationship between people and nature, highlighting 'restorative design'—the concept that design can strengthen our bond with the environment. It includes contributions from notable designers like Mustafa Ali Faruki and Studio Swine. Antonelli emphasized that design can drive significant change, while Stefano Boeri, the Triennale President, noted its importance in reflecting on our connection to the environment. The exhibit runs until August 15, 2021, at MoMA, 11 West 53 Street, Manhattan.
