British Working Class Photography 1989–2024 Tours UK

Curated by Johny Pitts, 'After the End of History: British Working Class Photography 1989–2024' is a touring exhibition organized by Hayward Gallery Touring. It features works by artists including Rene Matic, Elaine Constantine, JA Mortram, Hannah Starkey, Nathaniel Télémaque, and Kavi Pujara. Starkey's cinematic portraits of women in everyday urban settings, such as 'Untitled, May 2022' depicting a young woman in Northern Ireland, explore reclaiming the female gaze. Télémaque's photographs of Black millennials on the White City Estate in Shepherd's Bush address colonial legacies and power dynamics between photographer and subject. Pujara's 'This Golden Mile' series documents Leicester's Hindu community and confronts discrimination amid the rise of far-right groups. The exhibition runs at Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry (29 March–16 June 2024), Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea (3 July–14 September 2024), and Bonington Gallery, Nottingham (27 September–15 December 2024).
