British Photographer Terry O'Neill Dies at 81

British photographer Terry O'Neill died on November 16, 2019, at age 81, as announced by Iconic Images on Facebook. Born on July 30, 1938, in Heston, West London, he began his career accidentally at a British airline's photography department, where Peter Campion recognized his talent. Hired by the Daily Sketch, he photographed the Beatles at Abbey Road Studios in the early 1960s, a portrait that sold out newspapers. He also shot the Rolling Stones at the request of manager Andrew Loog Oldham, contributing to their fame. Over six decades, O'Neill captured icons including Winston Churchill, Queen Elizabeth II, Nelson Mandela, Frank Sinatra, Elton John, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Bono, Amy Winehouse, Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Muhammad Ali. His notable works include "Sinatra on the Boardwalk" and a 1975 two-day concert at Dodger Stadium, which influenced the film "Rocketman."
