British Museum sets £33 top ticket for Bayeux Tapestry show
The British Museum has announced ticketing for its Bayeux Tapestry exhibition (10 September 2026–11 July 2027), with adult tickets at £33 peak, £27 off-peak, and £25 for students and disabled visitors. Super-off-peak tickets at £25 are available for the last weekday slot (15.30–16.20) during school term. Members can book free timed tickets from 12:30 on 16 June, with two free visits and a discount for further visits. Public booking opens 1 July, with a maximum of 12 tickets per booking. The tapestry, depicting the 1066 Norman invasion, will be displayed in the Sainsbury Exhibitions Gallery while its Normandy home undergoes renovations—its first time in Britain in nearly 1,000 years. Meanwhile, Tapestry of Trees, an installation of 37 silver birch trees by Andy Sturgeon, has been unveiled on the forecourt (until 2 June), inspired by the tapestry and evoking a medieval woodland. The work serves as a prelude to new visitor pavilions and gardens opening next year, replacing temporary tents with architecturally designed structures, as confirmed by museum director Nicholas Cullinan.
