exhibition · 2026-05-22

The British Library will present "Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery," the largest UK exhibition on the author in nearly 25 years, opening October 30, 2026. Curated by Lucy Rowland, the show features 100 artifacts including photographs, notes, and poisons, some making their public debut. Items come from the British Library's collection (which also holds the Magna Carta and Diamond Sutra) and loans from the Christie Archive Trust. James Prichard, Christie's grandson and CEO of Agatha Christie Limited, noted his father Mathew selected items offering personal and professional insights. The exhibition is organized into five thematic sections: "The Country House" covers her upbringing and feedback from Dorothy L. Sayers; "The Dispensary" focuses on her pharmacist era with pharmaceutical exam notes and WWI service record; "The Train" features an Orient Express-inspired car and travel relics like a 1922 surfing photo from Hawaii; "The Dig" explores her archaeological interests with video footage and her Remington typewriter used for "And Then There Were None"; "The Theater" highlights her stage work with a Dictaphone and rare footage from "The Mousetrap" party. The show runs through June 20, 2027, at the British Library, 96 Euston Rd., London. A companion publication is billed as the first comprehensive volume on Christie's life and works in 50 years.
