British Art Show 9 launches in Aberdeen with 47 artists exploring themes of healing and new futures
The ninth British Art Show commenced at Aberdeen Art Gallery on 10 July and will be on display until 10 October, after which it will move to Wolverhampton, Manchester, and Plymouth. Curated by Hammad Nasar and Irene Aristizábal, the exhibition showcases 47 artists chosen from a pool of 230. This edition revolves around three main themes: strategies for community, envisioning alternative futures, and the concept of healing. Recently renovated at a cost of £34.6 million, funded by oil and gas companies, the gallery features pieces such as Kathrin Böhm's 'When Decisions Become Art' and Hrair Sarkissian's 'Deathscape.' The exhibition, organized by Hayward Gallery Touring, was delayed due to the pandemic and presents unique themes in each location.
