British Art Show 6 Reveals Shift Toward Internationalism and Mature Practice

The British Art Show's sixth iteration, overseen by curators Alex Farquharson and Andrea Schlieker, commenced at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Newcastle, running from September 24, 2005, until January 8, 2006. This exhibition, organized by Hayward Gallery Touring every five years since 1979, features 50 artists and will subsequently travel to Manchester, Nottingham, and Bristol until September 2006. Highlighting the work of artists aged 30 to 50, this edition focuses on themes of internationalism. Significant pieces include Enrico David's furniture, Silke Otto-Knapp's paintings, a film by Marysia Lewandowska and Neil Cummings, a portrait by Rosalind Nashashibi, Phil Collins' dance marathon, films by Marine Hugonnier, and Goshka Macuga's display.
