Brigitte Aubignac's 'Faunes et faunesses' at Institut culturel Bernard Magrez

The exhibition 'Faunes et faunesses' by Brigitte Aubignac was held at the Institut culturel Bernard Magrez in Bordeaux from December 20, 2012, to February 27, 2013. The series presents hybrid beings that blur the lines between human and animal, tradition and modernity, dream and reality. These creatures, part faun and part human, are depicted in everyday scenarios—one tries to put on a shoe, others engage in conversations or feasts, and a fauness blows soap bubbles or applies makeup. Aubignac balances nocturnal and diurnal elements, merging mythological fantasy with contemporary banality and the brutality of animality.
